Japanese sales: Majora’s Mask 3D dethroned, Wii U sales at 6k

Last week as a pretty middling week for Japan in terms of console sales, despite several high profile releases. Majora’s Mask 3D was dethroned from the top of the charts by a PlayStation Vita title, God Eater 2: Rage Burst. Both the PlayStation 4 and the Vita are the two best-selling consoles of the week, while the New Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U follow up. Sales of the old 3DS have pretty much dried up, but they’re still beating out the Xbox One in Japan.

All in all it’s looking like a light week for both software and hardware in Japan, but that may change as the next title to drop for the Wii U is Mario Party 10 on March 12. It will be interesting to see if the party title is able to move a significant number of Wii U units or if it will mostly be those who have already purchased a Wii U.
