Nintendo continues to dominate the top of the Japanese sales charts

Wii U sales

Media Create numbers are the numbers we typically rely on for Japanese hardware sales numbers and they’re a bit late coming in for the last week of the 2013 year. However, we do have numbers released by Famitsu magazine, which tends to be similar to Media Create in showing how well the Japanese market is doing. As always the Nintendo 3DS remains at the top of the chart in both software and hardware, and the Wii U continues its trend in second place, down from 110k units last week to 79k units this week.

In terms of software, Nintendo dominates all of the top ten slots with the exception of the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD remaster for both PS3 and PS Vita, which claimed the third and fifth spots respectively. Overall, last week shaped up to be a pretty decent haul for Nintendo to close out the 2013 year in Japan.
