Wii Sports Club premium bundle to become main Wii U offering in Japan

When the Wii U launched in 2012, it released in the 8GB white basic version and a 32GB black deluxe edition. Since then we’ve seen Nintendo phase out the 8GB white console in favor of every SKU being offered at 32GB both white and black in Japan. Now it looks like Nintendo will be phasing out the original premium bundle and focusing on the new Wii Sports Club premium bundle as the primary bundle available in Japan.

A note released with new advertisement for the bundle states that the old premium bundle will cease production soon and will instead be replaced by the Wii Sports Club bundle. It seems like the Wii Sports Club bundle will also only be available in white instead of both colors, so perhaps the white version of the Wii U is more popular in Japan? Either way, it’s likely if this new Wii Sports Club bundle sees success in Japan, we could see it offered to other territories as well.

Remember Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort were two of the most popular Wii games released.
