After last week’s announcement that it will embrace mobile gaming, Nintendo’s president Satoru Iwata conducted an interview with TIME where he discusses several aspects of the company’s business strategy. The second part of that interview went live today, where TIME discussed some of the recent rumors about projects coming from Nintendo.
One of the topics of discussion was whether or not the rumored Netflix Zelda project is actually real and if Nintendo will be lending the Legend of Zelda franchise to a company in order to produce a live-action series based on the lore of the series. According to Iwata, the rumors of that happening are based on incorrect information, but the way Iwata chooses to phrase that statement leaves us to believe something similar could be in the works.
Here’s what Iwata said when asked to comment on the rumors in the interview:
“As of now, I have nothing new to share with you in regard to the use of our IPs for any TV shows or films, but I can at least confirm that the article in question is not based on correct information.”
As of right now, Iwata isn’t doing much to dissuade the idea that there could be a television series based on the show. The only thing he’s dissuaded is that it might not be in partnership with Netflix.
What do you think?
