The lack of third party support for the Wii U is something most people familiar with the situation know well. The Wii U has not sold very well since stalling in January and since then, third party publishers like EA and Activision have been hesitant to announce titles for the Wii U. Nintendo had addressed this in the latest round of investor Q&A, with Iwata saying that third parties are still developing for the Wii U.
“There are currently a small number of announcements of new games by third-party software developers for Wii U. I am not in a position to discuss the software to be launched by the third-party developers in detail, but there are more key titles to be announced by them.”
Iwata gives no mention to exactly who these third-party developers are and what announcements haven’t been made, but the company has recently done well to lessen their restrictions on indie developers in order to attract them to the platform. Iwata went on to discuss the important of first-party titles that will help establish the new Nintendo console as once again viable in the console market space.
