Nintendo’s annual report for 2013 is now available, including a personal message from Satoru Iwata. The annual report details the Nintendo 3DS’s successes and the Wii U’s struggle. Iwata’s statement is perhaps the most interesting aspect of the report, as he states that he has full confidence that Nintendo will be back to making “Nintendo-like” profits in the 2014 fiscal year.
“Nintendo posted an operating loss for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2013. However, we strive to regain “Nintendo-like” profits for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014 by providing many people with fascinating games and services. We continue to make brand-new and unique proposals, and make efforts for the growth of the home entertainment industry with a mission that is to pleasantly surprise people and put smiles on the faces of everyone Nintendo touches.”
Of course, Pikmin 3 was only just released and Nintendo is enjoying the success of several key 3DS titles, including Animal Crossing: New Leaf and the upcoming Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. The Wonderful 101 and Super Mario 3D World are set to debut later this year for Wii U.
