It’s official: Switch has surpassed the Wii U in just 10 months

Nintendo has revealed the latest Switch sales data, and the console has now sold 14.8 million units as of December 31st.

That means, as many had anticipated, that the Switch has now outsold its predecessor, the Wii U, in just 10 months. The Wii U’s lifetime sales are at just 13.5 million units.

Nintendo is now on track to sell 15 million Switch consoles in year one, which would make it one of the most successful first years for a console ever. 15 million units in year one is also what the PS4 managed to achieve.

Now that the Wii U has been surpassed, the next console on the list is the GameCube, which has sold 21 million units worldwide.
