Google released its Santa Tracker for the web earlier this month, but this year they have added a little extra something to the experience. You can track Santa from your mobile device now, using the Android app. If that wasn’t cool enough, Google Santa Tracker is also adding itself to the growing list of Chromecast-supported apps.
The app offers all the games and features as the web version. It’s really almost identical. Games are unlocked as each day until Christmas passes, giving the kiddos a nice way to wait until they can go crazy unwrapping all their gifts.
It’s a simple concept, but the app comes with Chromecast support, which makes it a little unique. The Chromecast features don’t do much with this app, but it could be a nice background to have while the kids (or adults) play said games. Google Santa Tracker can stream the countdown image via Chromecast.
As mentioned, it’s no big deal, but it demonstrates how more apps could use Chromecast capabilities. Google’s HDMI streaming dongle is getting very popular and it will only get better as more support comes, and now we are almost certain the Chromecast will really take off.
