Google Fiber expanding, 34 cities invited

Google Fiber may offer the best internet in the country, but it is available to very few. None of us can wait until we can get our hands on 1 Gbps data speeds, and some of you may not have to wait that long. Google is considering expanding Fiber and has invited 9 markets to join internet’s new age.

In total, we are talking about a whole 34 cities that can bring the power of Google Fiber to their citizens. It seems insane to decline Google’s offer, with the fastest internet speeds at low prices. We will go ahead and assume most of these cities are to get Fiber soon, but some may not get it.

Invited Markets

  • Atlanta, GA: Avondale Estates, Brookhaven, College Park, Decatur, East Point, Hapeville, Sandy Springs and Smyrna.
  • Charlotte, NC.
  • Nashville, TN.
  • Salt Lake City, UT.
  • San Antonio, TX.
  • Phoenix, AZ: Scottsdale and Tempe.
  • Portland, OR: Beaverton, Hillsboro, Gresham, Lake Oswego and Tigard.
  • Raleigh-Durham, NC: Carrborro, Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, Garner, Morrisville and Raleigh.
  • San Jose, CA: Santa Clara, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Palo Alto.

If your city is in the list, this is your lucky day! You are now one step closer to having the internet we have all been dreaming of. Google plans to give us more details by the end of the year. For now they are working with local leaders to see how they could bring Fiber to the listed cities.

How many of you live in one of these cities?
