GameStop: Switch sales have been “phenomenal”

The biggest games retailer in the world, GameStop, recently shared its thoughts on the Switch launch and sales of the console. And according to the retailer, Switch sales have been “phenomenal”.

The words come from GameStop senior director of merchandising, Eric Bright, who not not said that sales were “phenomenal”, but that he believes the Switch could “possibly eclipse the Wii”, given its strong start. Bright said about Switch sales:

“The Nintendo Switch is off to a start right now that it could possibly eclipse the Wii. Initial sales on this have been phenomenal. I can’t give straight numbers, but I can say we’re seeing one of the highest attach rates of software and accessories to a device that we’ve seen in a long time.”

He added that sales of accessories, such as extra Joy-Cons, have been strong as well, and that the company plans to offer a Switch Zelda bundle soon.

The Switch has reportedly sold 1.5 million units during launch and is selling so well right now that Nintendo has doubled Switch production.

Earlier this week we reported that game industry analysts are very optimistic about the Switch, expecting the console to sell 8 million units during its first 13 months.
