GameStop addresses “possible security incident”

Recently, it was reported that the GameStop website had been hacked and that customer information might be at risk. Today, the company confirmed that the incident did happen, although they weren’t upfront about whether or not customer information was taken. Here’s their statement:

“GameStop identified and addressed a potential security incident that was related to transactions made on GameStop’s website during a specific period of time. GameStop mailed notification letters to customers who made purchases during that time frame advising them of the incident and providing information on steps they can take.”

If you shopped on GameStop’s website between August 10, 2016 and February 9, 2017, and haven’t received a letter, it might be time to change your credit card information and passwords.
