A new survey done by Nielsen (those guys who do all the TV ratings) shows why gamers purchased the console they have. According to the survey, gamers bought the Wii U for its “Fun factor” and backwards compatibility.

Those who got a PlayStation 4 cited hardware as the main reason, citing “Better resolution” and “Blu-ray” player as the top two reasons. As for Microsoft’s Xbox One, the “Brand” was cited as why they bought the console.

Nielsen released a nifty chart that shows the top five reasons gamers purchased their consoles. We’re a bit surprised that “Brand” isn’t listed at all for the Wii U, considering how many Nintendo fans and previous Wii owners bought the console (likely the vast majority).

What was the reason you got your Wii U? The games? The GamePad? Because you’re a loyal Nintendo fan? Let us know in the comments section.
