GameFreak and Sega’s Tembo the Badass Elephant isn’t coming to Wii U

GameFreak and Sega have announced their first collaborative project is Tembo the Badass Elephant. This announcement follows several mysterious post cards that were mailed to several major gaming sites last week. The game is a side-scrolling action title that gives players control of the elephant Tembo, where players must smash, crash, and dash their way through the levels in order to save civilians. The kicker is the game is not being developed for the Wii U.

Current platforms being targeted are the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. According to this announcement, the game will be released sometime during the summer 2015. The announcement has already brought in questions of why the development team is choosing not to support Wii U, which GameFreak character designer James Turner answered with the following:

When I was writing the presentation documents for this game, I drew a mockup poster, and I put the Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox logos at the bottom. It seemed to fit, and it happened to stick that way. We thought about other hardware during development, but our hands were pretty full with those three platforms!

So there you have it.
