GAME apologizes for Super Mario Maker pre-order disaster

A few weeks ago before Super Mario Maker released, several UK gamers reported that their pre-orders from GAME had been charged multiple times to their bank accounts, with one person being charged upwards of seven times. GAME quickly issued a statement to the public to let people know the issue would be fixed, but removing £300 from people’s bank account for one pre-order sat wrong with people.

Now GAME has sent an email to those who were affected by the blunder, apologizing for the mistake and offering a paltry £10 gift card as a means to smooth the whole issue.

As you have been affected by some billing issues on Mario, we wanted to get in tough to say sorry and that we made a mistake. We know this was wrong and have been working to ensure things go smoothly in future.

We wanted to send you this goodwill voucher of £10 which you can redeem either in store or online. We know you love gaming or were buying Mario as a gift. We’re sorry if we caused you any inconvenience and please accept our sincere apologies.

While the apology is certainly welcome, this isn’t the first time GAME has messed up and charged more on pre-orders, or had to cancel orders entirely due to low stock issues. The release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was plagued with the same problems, and that was only around a week before Super Mario Maker released.
