FIFA 18 runs at 1080p and 60 fps on Switch docked

EA has confirmed that FIFA 18 will be running at full 1080p and 60 frames per second on the Switch in docked mode. And in portable mode, resolution drops to 720p (to match the screen) and still runs at 60 fps.

That’s quite an achievement and is one of the very few games that supports full 1080p and 60 fps on the Switch, especially a game that’s in 3D (unlike many of the 2D indies that support 1080p/60fps).

EA Sports’s Andrei Lazarescu said the company spent a lot of time making sure the game runs as smoothly as possible at 60 fps. He said during a livestream at GamesCom:

“We spent a lot of time actually understanding what the console is. In dock, what we’re seeing right now, for example, is 1080p run running at 60 frames per second. When you plug out and you play in handheld it’s 720p. We spent a lot of time making sure that transition happens seamlessly and you still get 60 frames per second.”

FIFA 18 launches on September 29 on the Switch and other platforms.
