FIFA 16 is not coming to Wii U or 3DS

EA has announced that its upcoming entry in the long-running FIFA series, FIFA 16, will not be coming to any Nintendo platforms — no FIFA 16 on the Wii U or 3DS or Wii.

FIFA is a best seller for EA and the company usually releases the game each year on a variety of platforms. FIFA 16 will be released on the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC on September 22. In addition to skipping the Nintendo platforms, FIFA 16 won’t be released on the PlayStation Vita either.

Last year, FIFA 15 wasn’t released on the Wii U, but did see a release on the 3DS and the original Wii. 2016 will be the first time there is no FIFA game on a Nintendo platform since 2000, where EA didn’t release FIFA 2001 on the N64 or GameBoy.

This doesn’t come as a huge surprise — EA has been the least supportive third party publisher of the Wii U, and recently, its CEO explained why they don’t focus on the Wii U and other Nintendo platforms.
