Nintendo has come a long way since 2013, when the company attempted to ban Super Smash Bros. from being played at Evo 2013, the annual fighting games festival that is watched by thousands. The company also met with a bit of sour resistance over copyright claims on YouTube content, but it looks like Nintendo is finally on the right track.
At this year’s Evo 2014 event, Nintendo was an official sponsor and Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime even addressed the crowd with a special video, which you can see above. It’s obvious Nintendo wants to capitalize on the enthusiasm for Super Smash Bros. by making sure fans are hyped about the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.
Let’s hope Nintendo remains a sponsor for Evo 2015 and beyond and hopefully we’ll see the new Super Smash Bros. featured at next year’s main event.
