New NX rumors suggest mega launch line-up and more

Noted leaker and long-time Nintendo fan Emily Rogers is back on the NX rumor horse, releasing more information she’s gathered about how Nintendo NX development has progressed and why we’ve seen such a drought in Wii U games over the past few years. In a new blog post called, “Why you should be excited about the NX’s software output” Rogers outlines some predictions for the NX based on the information she’s gathered. Definitely check out the entire article, but here’s a quick summary of some of the more important points.

  • The overall goal behind the Nintendo NX is to increase the software output from Nintendo’s first party teams and studios.
  • In order to accomplish that goal, the process of how Nintendo produces software has been changed radically.
  • Multiple unannounced Wii U projects were moved over to the Nintendo NX.
  • The NX could potentially see the highest output of first party Nintendo titles in any console lifespan.

While all of this is of course rumor at this point, it should be noted that Rogers has a stellar track record when it comes to Nintendo rumors and she vets her sources well. Perhaps the most telling point is the final point of her article, which is what has bothered me about the Wii U since its release.

With that said, the NX definitely won’t be the shit show that we experienced on Wii U with three month droughts on a regular basis. At least not when it comes to first party software.

What do you think about these rumors? Will Nintendo step up the ball and serve the Nintendo NX consumer better than they did the Wii U consumer? How do you feel about knowing some unannounced Wii U projects never saw the light of day due to the NX on the horizon?
