EA is the biggest third party publisher in the world, and despite its size, the company hasn’t supported the Wii U. Besides a few launch titles, the publisher stopped releasing games on the Wii U. They even went further, releasing an April Fool’s joke about it.
However, the publisher is considering bringing games to Nintendo’s next platform, the NX.
“As it relates to Nintendo, we’ve had a tremendous relationship with them over the years. And we will evaluate any and all opportunities with them, in the same way we do all platform opportunities.” said EA CEO Andrew Wilson.
EA only supported the Wii U at launch, releasing just four games for the system. That’s despite the praise the Wii U got from EA back in 2011. This is what former EA CEO John Riccitiello had to say:
“What Nintendo’s new console delivers speaks directly to the players of EA Sports and EA Games. Nintendo’s new console will produce brilliant high-definition graphics and new gameplay opportunities. We look forward to seeing great EA content on this new platform.”
This enthusiasm resulted in just four Wii U games from EA, and they were all ports: FIFA 13, Madden NFL 13, Need For Speed, Mass Effect 3.
