32GB white Wii U & other accessories headed to Japan

For dedicated Nintendo fans, one of the deciding factors that determined which color Wii U they purchased was the available accessories. At the time of release, the white Wii U only offered 8GB of storage, while the black deluxe model offered 32GB. That’s about to change in Japan, as Nintendo will be releasing a 32GB white model for those who want the extra storage space without the black veneer. This comes after Nintendo acknowledged that releasing the smaller 8GB Wii U was a mistake.

Other accessories being released in the region include a new fast charge device for the Wii Remote, and a new GamePad battery upgrade. The improved battery pack features a 2500mAh battery over the standard 1500mAh and will increase play time from five to eight hours. The price is set at ¥3,150, which is around $30. The pack will be released on July 25.

The last announcement is a set of quick charge items for the Wii Remote, including a battery pack, charging dock and a case and strap. This set will retail for ¥4,200 and will be available on July 13.

There has been no word on when any of these accessories will be available outside of Japan, but E3 seems a likely place to announce new bundles and accessories, so stay tuned.
