There has been some back and forth over the past few months regarding developer Crytek and its upcoming first person shooter Crysis 3. There have been some conflicting statements coming out of Crytek, some suggesting that there isn’t a Crysis 3 Wii U version in development, while others reported more optimistic news. Now however, it appears that this has been settled once and for all, as Crytek General Manager Nick Button-Brown revealed via Twitter. He said,
Just to answer the speculation, we are not currently working on a Wii U version of Crysis 3.
That should settle it. At least for now. Last time we heard from Crytek was when producer Mike Reid said he wouldn’t rule out a Crysis 3 Wii U version, despite the game being scheduled for release early next year. That’s not to say Crytek doesn’t support Nintendo’s new console — the sophisticated CryEngine 3 has been successfully ported to the Wii U and there is already at least one game that’s in development for the Wii U with CryEngine 3.

Technically, Crysis 3 would be very possible on the Wii U, as it will be released on current gen consoles and PC. The Wii U is easily more powerful than the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This could mean that the reason we’re not seeing Crysis 3 on the Wii U is not a technical reason, but perhaps related to the business side of things.
