Today Nintendo issued a statement that the Club Nintendo service it runs in Japan has been hacked, leaving thousands of Nintendo fans in Japan who use the service with their details such as name, address, phone number, and email stolen.

Club Nintendo does not store any credit card information so payment details were not taken, but information “doxxing” is a common step for hackers in identity theft scams. The service received 23,000 unauthorized login requests between June 9th and July 4th.

Nintendo is now urging all of its Japanese participants to change their passwords. No word has been mentioned about Club Nintendo in America or Europe, but we’ll keep you up to date as more information is released.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in.
