Sundar Pichai told us that the Chromecast was heading to “many more” countries soon. So far we know the UK is getting it on March 19th – but what about other markets? Germany seems to be next on the list, as Google’s HDMI dongle has shown up at a couple retailers.
The retailers involved are Saturn and Media Markt. Both seem to be ready for launch, with one of the images coming straight from the show floor. The fact that these are not somewhere in the storage rooms can only mean the release is here, or coming very soon.
Both retailers have the Chromecast dongle marked at 40 Euros, which is equivalent to about $55 USD. This is quite pricey, considering the Chromecast is only $35 in the USA. Prices tend to be higher outside the USA, though, so this is to be expected.
It’s nice to finally see the Chromecast reaching more countries! We know our German readers will be happy to hear about this. Go to your closest Saturn or Media Markt and see if they have the Chromecast available!
