ASUS Chromebox available for pre-order, it’s already Amazon’s #1 best-selling desktop computer

asus-chromebox-3

The ASUS Chromebox is one of the most interesting Chrome OS devices we have seen in a while. It packs quite the punch, with great specs. Not to mention, it carries a very friendly price tag, starting at just $179. You can read all about it in our ASUS Chromebox announcement post, but today we are here to show you where you can buy it.

We already saw the ASUS Chromebox being offered by SabrePC, but you may want to go with one of the bigger retailers instead. If such is the case, you will be glad to learn Amazon, Newegg and TigerDirect are now accepting pre-orders for the ASUS Chromebox!

Here are some details about the ASUS Chromebox, just in case you haven’t seen them before.

ASUS Chromebox price

The only Chromebox available right for pre-order is the lower-end Intel Celeron version. This version costs $179 from both Amazon and Newegg, while TigerDirect charges an extra $0.99 ($179.99) for it. We do know the Intel Core i3 version will go for $369.99, though. Is that a good price? It seems so.

ASUS Chromebox already a success!

I have to accept I haven’t been to keen on the ASUS Chroembox. Not that it isn’t a good Chrome OS device – in fact, it is a very powerful device. I just dislike the idea of getting rid of portability, when the cheapest Chroembooks cost just $20 more and come with similar specs, a screen, keyboard, touchpad, etc.

Of course, this is all subjective. I have always specified this is just my opinion, and I am sure the ASUS Chroembox can be a great computer for many of you. In fact, many of you are loving the idea of the ASUS Chromebox!

The device just became available for pre-order, and it is already Amazon’s best-selling desktop PC. Now, that is what I call an accomplishment. The Acer C720 and Samsung Chromebook have held the #1 spot in the past. Having the ASUS Chromebox take over the desktop section is amazing news.

Will you buy an ASUS Chromebox?

I am still not buying into the Chromebox business. I simply have no need for a stationary Chrome OS computer, when I can use my Chromebook in dock mode to achieve the same results (albeit in a more bulky way). I can see how it would be great for a living room, office, library or classroom, though!

Will you be purchasing one? If you are, here are the links.

Those who pre-order will get the device pretty soon. These sites mark the official release date as March 14, which is this coming Friday.
