Bunch of new Zelda details: Link has no AI partner, Ganon hinted, Pro Controller support, more

We’ve gotten more news about Zelda: Breath of the Wild here at E3. The first and probably biggest reveal is that both the Wii U and NX versions of the game will offer an identical gameplay experience. When asked about the differences, Zelda director Eiji Aonuma told IGN that players will get the same experience on both platforms, but didn’t go into details.

Which begs the question: will the NX controller have a screen, since the Wii U version uses the Wii U GamePad controller? While the experience will stay the same, we do expect the NX version to look better, considering it has more powerful hardware.

And if you’re not a fan of the Wii U GamePad, Aunoma also confirmed that Breath of the Wild will support the more regular Wii U Pro Controller.

Earlier today we also reported that Wolf Link can be used in the game through the Wolf Link Amiibo. This is the only AI help that Link will be able to get in the new game, as there will be now AI partner otherwise. You can watch a video of Wolf Link in action here.

Those expecting Link to finally speak in Breath of the Wild will have to wait longer: while the game features more voiceover than any other Zelda game, Link will stay silent (via GameInformer).

Finally, Ganondorf has been hinted in Breath of the Wild, as spotted in a screenshots, where the text reads: “I am a humble monk, blessed with the sight of the Goddess Hylia and dedicated to helping those who seek to defeat Ganon” (italics ours).
