Bioshock designer lists The Wind Waker HD in his top ten games of 2013

Ken Levine

Ken Levine —Irrational Games co-founder and creative director of the famed Bioshock series— listed The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD among his top ten games of 2013. Mr. Levine’s recommendation came by way of a blog post on GiantBomb.com, in which he remarked:

A magical game about a floutist. What else do I need to say that hasn’t been said, except I was never one of those haters who didn’t like the way it looked on the GameCube, and it’s even better now.

Other “big names” made the list, such as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Dishonored. However The Wind Waker HD was ultimately the only Nintendo-exclusive title that came to Levine’s mind.  Out of a sea of year-end best game lists and videos its nice to see such an esteemed figure in the industry list his favorite games in no particular order.

…in short, don’t waste your time reading this list because it doesn’t mean much. However, if I had to name 10 games of 2013, I’d go with these. (P.S., they’re not in any order of importance.)

The creative director was humble enough to leave out his own oft-nominated-for-game-of-2013 title, Bioshock Infinite. Those of us still hoping for that game to be ported over to the Wii U… (sigh) We’re left with the open-ended remark Levine made back at E3 2012. Don’t give up hope, people!
