Bethesda finally confirms Skyrim for the Nintendo Switch

When Nintendo showcased the Nintendo Switch back in October, one of the games they showed off on the simulated screen was Bethesda’s Skyrim. Immediately after that reveal several game outlets reached out to Bethesda to confirm whether or not Skyrim would be appearing on the Nintendo Switch, but the company refused to say anything to confirm its appearance on the console. Here’s the statement they released to those outlets:

“We’re happy to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Nintendo on the video. While we are not confirming any specific titles at this time, we are pleased to announce our partnership with Nintendo and support of the Switch. We look forward to revealing specific games and details in the future.”

Naturally, Wii U owners and those who are familiar with Nintendo’s record of attracting third-party developers were skeptical given how many of the Wii U games shown off in promotional materials that never actually made it to the console.

However, in a recent interview with Glixel, Bethesda’s Todd Howard has finally confirmed that Skyrim will appear on the Nintendo Switch. When asked if it’s the same game on both screens, Howard confirms it is and he even gave a glowing review about the console demo he tested.

I love it. I got to play it. I will tell you – well, maybe that’s an N.D.A. thing. One of the best demos I’ve ever seen. Probably the best demo I’ve ever seen. At E3,” he said. “We’re definitely going to be supporting it. It’s the first time we’ve done something on Nintendo. If you don’t count the old NES stuff.

Bethesda is already enjoying the success of Skyrim Special Edition on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, which is a remastered version of the game to feature updated visuals and better performance for the new consoles.
