Arms debuts at number 1 spot in Japan, Switch still top selling console

Nintendo’s new IP, the fighting game Arms, is off to a great start. At least in Japan, where the first sales numbers are out.

Arms debuted at the top spot as the best selling game in Japan last week, selling over 100,000 units, which is quite a feat and shows there’s a lot of appetite for Switch games.

It was followed by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Zelda: Breath of the Wild at number 2 and 3 respectively — meaning the top three best selling games are all on the Switch.

In the console department, the Switch remained the best selling console in the country, selling almost 38,000 units, twice that of number 2 on the spot, the PS4.
