During the last Nintendo Direct, one of the new features president Satoru Iwata showed us was Amiibo Tap, a new way to enjoy some of Nintendo’s older titles using only your amiibo. Sounding a bit like Forrest Gump with his, “never know what you’re going to get” line, amiibo tap is a free app that will be available sometime this spring.
While not all the games with compatibility for amiibo tap were listed during the official announcement, we now have a full list of titles courtesy of the Japanese debut of the app. So far, only NES and SNES games are supported and you can play a 3-minute clip from any game. Each amiibo you own will give you a random game to play, so you might end up getting duplicates. Here’s the list:
