Amazon.ca seems to be cancelling Pit amiibo pre-orders

It seems like those who want to pre-order their amiibos just can’t catch a break, lately. After the recent Toys R Us fiasco in which several thousand people found their pre-orders for amiibos cancelled, including the exclusive Lucario amiibo, another outlet appears to be doing the same thing. We received reports last night that several people have had their pre-orders cancelled by Amazon Canada, stating that they’re unable to fulfill all the requests. Here’s a copy of the email received:

Hello from Amazon.ca.

We’re sorry to report we won’t be able to obtain the following item from your order:

“Pit amiibo – Wii U Pit Edition”

Although we’d expected to be able to send this item to you, we’ve since found it’s not available from any of our sources at this time. We realize this is disappointing news to receive, and we apologize for any inconvenience we’ve caused you.

We’ve cancelled this item from your order.

Please note, if you took advantage of a promotional offer when placing this order, these cancellations can affect your order’s eligibility for that offer. To view the current status and the costs associated with your order, please visit the “Your Account” page.

Your credit card will not be charged for this item, because you only pay for items when we ship them to you.

Thank you for shopping with Amazon.ca.

Notice that Amazon Canada is not supplying a way to rectify the cancellation, as it looks like the demand is simply greater than supply. We’ve not noticed anyone from the United States complaining, but a ton of people are reporting issues on the NowInStock tool that we’ve mentioned several times. It looks like pre-orders are no longer a guarantee of availability.

Thanks, Derek!
