Axiom Verge has been hailed as a return to the classic 2D Metroid style game, but right now it’s exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and the PS Vita. It’s launching soon on those platforms and since leaving Nintendo, Dan Adelman has been working with the developers to help promote their game, similarly to what he did for indie developers while working at Nintendo.
Given his connections with the platform, Adelman has been asked several times why Axiom Verge isn’t heading to Nintendo platforms. Of course, being no stranger to the indie scene and how it works, Adelman stated that the game currently uses an engine that isn’t designed to work on the Wii U and that the team is investigating how much it would cost to port the title. May we suggest getting into contact with the guys over at Curve Digital? They’ve done a wonderful job in helping OlliOlli, Thomas Was Alone, Lone Survivor and more to the Wii U. Here’s Adelman’s full statement:
We obviously would love to bring it to Nintendo platforms at some point and we’re looking at ways we might want to do that,” Adelman said. “Because of some technical reasons and the way the game was designed, it will take a little bit of time to get it ported over, so we’re looking into what that will cost us and how long it will take but that’s something we definitely are considering.
If you can’t wait until the developers decide whether or not to bring the title to Wii U, it will be launching on PlayStation 4 later this month.
