Japanese sales: New Nintendo 3DS & Monster Hunter dominate all

This week was a dynamite week in Japan for hand-held gamers. The New Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS LL featuring the C-stick and other improvements went on sale this week, along with Monster Hunter 4. It’s clear that Japan is firmly rooted in mobile gaming, as Wii U sales dropped to just 6k this week after holding steady above the 8k mark for several weeks now.

Monster Hunter 4 also managed to dethrone Super Smash Bros. as the top-selling game of the week, with nearly 1.5 million copies sold in just a few short days. Super Smash Bros. retained a respectable amount of sales, as did the previous reigning champ, Yokai Watch 2.

As for Wii U games, Bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors have completely dropped off the charts, while Mario Kart 8 and Fatal Frame: Black-Haired Shrine Maiden have managed to retain spots on the top 20, though just barely.
