Aside from the news that the board of directors re-elected Satoru Iwata as president of Nintendo for another year, more good news came from the annual shareholders meeting in the form of sales for Mario Kart 8. Mario Kart 8 has been available for a little under a month now, launching on May 30th world wide. According to the meeting, 2 million copies of the game have been sold in the time since its release.
Nintendo confirmed this number to IGN, with Genyo Takeda confirming the news on behalf of the still recovering president Iwata. This is great news for a game that was expected to help move Wii U units, which it seems to have accomplished thanks to the Mario Kart 8 bundle available.
