If you owned a Wii during the last game generation, chances are you’re familiar with Wii Sports, the game that shipped with consoles and ultimately became the best-selling game on Nintendo’s console at the time. Nintendo is bringing back the mini games that made up Wii Sports in a new package called Wii Sports Club. The package will be released on the Wii U eShop and will allow individual games to be downloaded separately, as well as featuring HD graphics and enhanced controls with Wii MotionPlus. The biggest addition here is online multiplayer versus, so owners can face off against friends online.
Another interesting part of this re-release is that players will be registered to state or regional clubs that can then chat with each other through Miiverse during their matches. Players can play casually against members of their own club, or take on rivals in order to increase their club standing.
Tennis and Bowling are the first two titles to be available, making their appearance in the eShop on November 7th. Boxing, Baseball and Golf will launch at a later time. The games will come with a trial 24 hour period that lets Wii U owners experience the game for free and after that, day passes can be purchased for $1.99 each, or the entire game can be bought for $9.99.
It seems Nintendo is experimenting with several new pricing models between this and the release of Wii Fit U, so it will be interesting to see how this works out for them in the coming holiday season. Will you be trying any of the Wii Sports Club games? Let us know in the comments below.
