Namco Bandai took the time today to explain why Soul Calibur 2 HD Online won’t be making an appearance on the Wii U. According to them they have to platform loyalty, but the Wii U install base is just too small to make a port for that version viable. Here’s the full statement:
“We have always been willing to try any platform if there is enough demand. Project Soul doesn’t have any attachment to a particular console; only the desire to achieve the greatest results possible for the platform chosen.”
This is an understandable position for a niche publisher like Namco Bandai, who must make the most of sales for each platform. Still, for Soul Calibur fans who would like to play the game on their Wii U, hopefully sales for the console will pick up enough for Namco Bandai to consider it worth publishing for.
