Ubisoft says the Rayman Legends delay will result in a better game for Wii U

Rayman-Legends-2

Today was supposed to be the release date for Rayman Legends, before Ubisoft decided that a multi-platform release was a better cash grab than pleasing current customers. Of course Ubisoft is treading around the situation very delicately, with CEO Yves Guillemot speaking to Kotaku about the game’s release date and where the game will be in September.

The Wii U the team is working hard on the Wii U [version] to make sure it continues to improve, so it can become one of the best Wii U games. We hope it can be one of the top games Ubisoft creates. What’s very important to consider is that when a team has more time, they are able to continue to improve the quality of the game. When we saw we had more time, we saw all of the possibilities. Some of the possibilities are the social features that we are seeing today, but also new bosses, new possibilities that will take the game to a level that people will love.

Of course this is the sentiment from the CEO of a company that has failed to meet customer’s expectations, but perhaps there is a bit of truth to his words. Despite the Wii U version of the game being nearly done, with these extra months in the bag the team can go behind themselves and make sure everyone receives the polished experience they are hoping for. The only real problem with this is customers are going to go over the game with a fine-toothed comb once it’s released, meaning if everything isn’t up to snuff, there’s going to be a lot of stink on fan forums and sites.
