A few weeks ago when it was announced that the Wii U exclusive game Mario Kart 8 has sold around 2 million copies to date, Reggie Fils-Aime went on record stating that the Mario Kart 8 bundle has helped quadruple Wii U sales in the matter of weeks. That appears to be true at at least one retailer, who is reporting that the Wii U is outselling the Xbox One.
Online retailer Mighty Ape is New Zealand based and announced the information via its Facebook page, stating:
Another massive Wii U console shipment just in. These babies are currently out-selling the Xbox One.
Currently the Mario Kart Wii U bundle comes with the 32GB console and Mario Kart 8, and until the end of this month, you can choose a free game as well. It’s nice to see the proof that the Wii U is continuing to perform well outside of Japan, where we get weekly sales reports. NPD Group numbers should arrive this month for June, showing us exactly how well Mario Kart 8 did for North America.
