Next Level Games, the Canadian based development studio that brought us, Punch-Out!! Wii and Luigi’s newest haunted romp, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, has signed an exclusive development deal with Nintendo. This means Nintendo now has another second party developer under its belt.
This information was revealed in an interview at Gamasutra with Next Level Games’ co-founder Jason Carr. He said, the studio staff was “super happy” to work with Nintendo on Dark Moon. Later, Carr made an official statement about the matter.
“We have worked with a lot of other companies before, and we’re super happy with our relationship with Nintendo. There’s no reason to look anywhere else. They keep giving us better and better IP to work with, and as long as we do our job and make good games for them there’s no reason for us to venture out.”
Next Level Games is probably well known for its Nintendo franchises it has worked on, but there are a couple of other games that caught my eye. Titles like, NHL Hitz Pro, Spider-Man: Friend or foe, and Captain America: Super Soldier. Now these titles aren’t exactly triple a, but did have promise and were far from being terrible.
How do you feel having Next Level Games taking over some of Nintendo most beloved series?
