According to a rumor circulating on the NeoGAF forums, a new Sonic game could be headed to Wii U soon. The source is listed as Wentos on SegaBits, who’s track record for leaking accurate information on Sonic games has supposedly been spotless. Despite this, all information should be taken with a grain of salt and as a rumor, as nothing has been officially confirmed yet.

The source stated that the new Sonic game will launch in November and will be available for all major platforms, including next-gen consoles such as the Wii U and PlayStation 4. Another tid-bit of information lists Microsoft’s next-gen console as the Xbox Infinite. The game’s name is Sonic Excursion and according to Wentos, he/she witnessed two levels of play along with four playable characters.

“The first level is called “Shattered Heights” and is similar to the Sonic Generations incarnation of Speed Highway. Very New York themed. We were told the level was five minutes long, but they spent about fifteen minutes showing us parts of the stage’s design, focusing on the lighting and shadows and how lighting was one of the main focuses for this game’s design”.

According to Wentos, the game will allow players to control Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy. What do you think of this new information? Let us know in the comments below.
