In the past, Konami has made sure to let Wii U gamers know that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 isn’t coming to Wii U as the developers lack resources and time to work on it. Between developing the 3DS title Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate and the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, there’s not much time left to add a new console.
Despite that being the case, in an interview with Nintendo Life, producer Dave Cox has stated that Konami’s intention is not to snub Nintendo fans and for that reason, he refuses to rule out a Wii U version of the game entirely.
Nintendo Life: Castlevania has a long and proud association with Nintendo systems – you’ve stated that Lords of Shadow 2 is out of the question due to time and resource constraints, but are there any plans whatsoever for the installment on Wii U?
Dave Cox: No plans for those very reasons, but I wouldn’t rule it out completely.
This is by no means a confirmation that the game will be released on Wii U, but it’s interesting to see a producer refuse to say no. After the current generation ports are finished, it’s possible that the game could be polished up for next-gen hardware and will see release on the Wii U, or the studio could move on to their next installment in the series. Either way, it’s nice to know that Konami hasn’t forgotten about Nintendo fans yet.
