<\/a><\/p>\nIf you have been itching to buy a Chromecast outside of the USA, today may be your lucky day. Sundar Pichai told us at SXSW that Google was getting ready to release the Chromecast dongle in “many more countries”<\/a>. Rumors and leaks showed devices already in the UK<\/a> and Germany<\/a>, but today we are getting official word from Google. <\/p>\n Google’s Chromecast is now available in 11 countries outside the USA! No longer will you need to import the device from America, as the device is now available from the Google Play Store in these countries. Other retailers also have it in stock, including Amazon, Currys PC World, Elkj\u00f8p, FNAC, Saturn, and Media Markt. It’s an amazing time to join the Chromecast community. Google has brought on more official partners and developers now have access to the Google Cast SDK. This means apps continue to pop up on a daily basis. Any developer can now join the Chromecast bandwagon. <\/p>\n Of course, there are still the service limitations you find with many services. We know services like Netflix and Hulu don’t work in many countries, and this will be the case with the Chromecast as well. If a certain app or service is not allowed in your country, the same will apply with Google’s HDMI dongle. Thankfully, there is a wide selection of Chromecast apps.<\/p>\n Unless you are looking for Google’s official partners’ apps, it’s a mess to find Chromecast-supported applications. Many users resort to simply searching for “Chromecast” on the Google Play Store, which was the best solution until recently. <\/p>\n We need some kind of app or service that curates and organizes Chromecast apps. We recently covered Cast Store for Chromecast, which does just that. It’s an app that organizes and categorizes Chromecast apps. If you live in one of the countries listed above, you can now head to select retailers or the Google Play Store and get your Chromecast.
