Chromecast’s biggest fail since launch has been its inability to stream local content. Developer Koushik Dutta was doing some great work<\/a> with a solution for this, but his efforts were shut down by one of Google’s updates<\/a> to the dongle. His app stopped working and now it’s just a waiting game, but you can be sure a competitor will come around and give you what you want. In this case it’s Roku!<\/p>\n

The latest update to the Roku app has hit the Google Play Store and it brings the ability to stream locally stored content. There’s a bit of bad news, though – the app doesn’t work for everyone. There is a list of supported Roku players and an even smaller list of supported Android devices:<\/p>\n
