Today many Nintendo fans woke up to unhappy emails from Toys R Us confirming the cancellation of pre-ordered amiibos, including their exclusive Lucario amiibo. Many people were understandably upset and took to customer support, asking when they would be able to re-pre-order their amiibos. The customer support response that initially circled the web was that an inventory problem between Toys R Us and Nintendo had occurred, resulting in a delay for stock.

Once this news got out, rumors surfaced that Wave 3 of Nintendo’s amiibo distribution would be delayed past February. While that news is still rumor, an official Toys R Us representative contacted us here at Wii U Daily to confirm that the issue experienced earlier today was not a stock issue on Nintendo’s end, but a technical issue experienced by Toys R Us themselves.

Here’s the full statement given to Wii U Daily:

We apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused pertaining to your amiibo pre-order. Please know that we are working on an email communication to all customers effected, which will provide instructions on how we plan to fulfill your order. We thank you for your patience as we work to remedy this situation and ensure you receive the product you ordered. Thank you.

Toys R Us appears to be attempting to correct the issue, so if you’ve experienced a cancellation of any of your pre-ordered products, contact customer service to see what they can do for you.

Toys R Us has issued an official statement on the cancellation of amiibo pre-orders earlier today.

[1364
2358,3194,3189,40,1649,1358
