"Project

Project Cars was one of the very first third party games to be announced for the Wii U, which was almost 3 years ago. The game is now finally nearing completion, and is scheduled for release later this year. But not on the Wii U — Wii U owner will have to wait until early 2015 to play the new racer.

One of the reported reasons for the Project Cars Wii U delay is that developer Slightly Mad Studios needs more time to “adjust to the Wii U”. Publisher Namco Bandai has gone on record saying that the reason for the Wii U delay is that they want to make sure the game “delivers on our vision”.

Here’s the full Namco Bandai statement, which reads like it was auto generated by some PR software:

“We’re committed to delivering an exceptional and unique experience for racing fans on Wii U and for this we kindly ask our devoted and passionate Nintendo fans for a little more time in order to ensure the game delivers on our vision of being the most authentic, beautiful, and technically-advanced racing game on any platform.”

What we’ve seen of Project Cars so far has been impressive, and it’s easily one of the best looking racing games we’ve ever seen. However, we rarely see any Wii U footage of the game. Hopefully the wait will be worthwhile.

Project Cars launches this November on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Check out the recent E3 trailer of the game below. And be sure to check out the official Project Cars Wii U box art as well.
